Lebanese MPs, top figures offer condolences for Al Mayadeen's martyrs
Al Mayadeen is still receiving condolences for its martyred reporters after the latter were killed by a cowardly, deliberate Israeli drone strike.
Al Mayadeen's martyred journalists, correspondent Farah Omar and cameraman Rabih Me'mari were martyred for the sake of the righteous cause of liberation and in defense of freedom, as well as covering the truth, said Thursday Lebanese MP Tony Frangieh from the station's headquarters in the capital Beirut.
"No voice is louder than that of martyrdom," he added, noting that our martyred colleagues were martyrs for conscience.
Lebanese MP Mohammad Khawajah of the Development and Liberation Bloc said it was "Al Mayadeen is naturally at the forefront of those paying the heavy price" of freedom of expression and the freedom of the press, "but this shall not deter it from covering the truth and the ongoing Israeli crimes."
Those working in the revolutionary media "are at the forefront of the martyrs in Gaza and Lebanon," he added.
The political advisor to Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Hussein al-Moussawi, said: "Al Mayadeen is globally renowned as an actor in the face of Zionism and defending the ummah."
The Israeli occupation deliberately targeting Al Mayadeen's crew "elevates [its] role and all of those working in the battle of the Islamic world," underlining that "this front will never yield."
Vanguard of martyrs
The head of the Independent Nasserite Movement, Mustafa Hamdan, stressed that Al Mayadeen's martyrs were "the vanguard of martyrs in the battle of conscience that is just as important as the actual battle taking place on the battlefront in Gaza."
The symbolism of Farah and Rabih's martyrdom "is in the fact that they are martyrs in the battle of conscience that the youth is excelling in, just as the revolutionary youth is excelling in the confrontation on Palestinian soil after everyone thought it was a generation of peace," Hamdan added.
Lebanese Parliament Member Faisal Karami underlines the need for a unified stance "with the Resistance in this American-Zionist plot," adding: "The Resistance will remain the beacon of freedom in the region and the only means for the liberation of land and sanctities."
Lebanese Communist Party Secretary-General Hanna Gharib offered his condolences to Al Mayadeen, underlining that its martyrs "offered their lives for the sake of Palestine and its freedom fighters in the confrontation against the genocide the Israeli occupation is carrying out against the Palestinian people."
The two journalists "played an important role in exposing the truth of this criminal entity before all the peoples of the world."
The head of the administrative body of the Muslim Scholars Association, Sheikh Hassan Abdullah, said the martyrdom of Farah and Rabih was another badge of honor on Al Mayadeen's chest.
The Israeli occupation "understands nothing but the language of violence; it has no consideration for any humanitarian values," he added.
International solidarity
Syrian Information Minister Boutros al-Hallak offered his condolences to Al Mayadeen, stressing that the blood of the martyrs "will not go to waste, and they shall return the people's rights."
Al Mayadeen "is a pioneer in reporting the truth to its viewers, especially in Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria, showing the true nature of the enemy," he added.
Al Mayadeen was offered condolences from all over the world, such as from Russia, wherein the Russian-Arab Cultural Institue offered its condolences, as well as the Lebanese, Yemeni, Egyptian, and Syrian diasporas.
Al Mayadeen's martyrs
Colleague Farah Omar tragically lost her life alongside her fellow martyr Rabih Me'mari in an Israeli airstrike around 10:00 AM on Tuesday, as they were covering the news along the Lebanese border.
Al Mayadeen presenter Wafa Saraya vowed in an eulogy that the channel will remain "steadfast, rooted, enduring, and persevering," noting that the spirit of Farah will continue to sow hope and strength.
The body of the martyr and colleague Farah Omar was laid to rest earlier today in her hometown of Mashghara after prayers were offered for her and for martyr Me'mari at the Al Mayadeen channel headquarters in Beirut this morning.
Martyr Me'mari's body was buried at the Al-Hurra Zainab cemetery, located in the southern suburbs of Beirut. Mourning family members, colleagues, and figures from political and media circles were all present at his funeral procession.
Our beloved colleagues consistently reported on Israeli atrocities in southern Lebanon despite Israeli threats. These two journalists were united in a bond forged by their dedication, bravery, and, ultimately, their sacrifice.
They have ascended as two new martyrs, true heroes, performing their journalistic duties to expose the Israeli occupation's crimes during the brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon.
