Lebanese PM: Hezbollah is a Lebanese political party
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati admits that the investigation into the Beirut Port blast is flawed.
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said, "Hezbollah is a Lebanese political party," maintaining that no foreign country has ascendancy over Lebanon.
In a press conference addressing recent developments in the country, Mikati indicated that he could not hold anyone responsible for the failure of convening the cabinet, adding that he is "convinced that the investigation into the Beirut Port blast is flawed, but it cannot be dealt with by disrupting the government."
The Lebanese Prime Minister also called for internal understanding through dialogue in order to strengthen Lebanon's relations with the Arab countries, especially with the Gulf, and not to offend them or interfere in their internal affairs.
Mikati also pointed out that "the constitution was found to prevent any obstruction, and the laws are the reference for resolving disputes.” He reiterated his call to distance the judiciary from political strife, considering that “this is the first step to preserve the image of Lebanon."
It is worth noting that Lebanese President Michel Aoun affirmed, on Monday, that the solution in the country lies in accountability, by holding each side responsible for its part in the country's collapse.
Aoun added, in a speech he addressed to the Lebanese, that the solution requires first transitioning to a civil state and a new system based on administrative decentralization.
