Lebanon Condemns Israeli Violation of Airspace After Aggression on Syria

Caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab says that the United Nations should condemn the Israeli aggression and take measures that preserve Lebanon's sovereignty and protect Resolution 1701. Lebanese Foreign Minister is also sending a complaint through Lebanon's delegate to the UN regarding Israeli violations.

  • Lebanon condemns Israeli violation of its airspace
    The violation of Lebanese airspace is illegal, and Lebanon has condemned the act of aggression. 

Caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab said that "The enemy's continuous violation of Lebanon's sovereignty is a direct violation to UN Resolution 1701."

Diab added that the UN should condemn the Israeli aggression and take measures that preserve Lebanon's sovereignty and protect Resolution 1701."

From her side, Zeina Akar, acting Lebanese Foreign Minister condemned the Israeli violation of Lebanese airspace on Thursday night during its bombing of Syrian areas. 

Akar said that the Israeli violation posed a direct and serious threat to Lebanese navigation and safety of civil aviation, and a flagrant violation of international resolutions, especially 1701, as well as a threat to security and stability in Lebanon.

She added that the hostile aircraft violated the airspace adjacent to Beirut Airport and was in direct contact with the civil aviation line.

The minister also announced that a complaint was filed through Lebanon's representative to the UN, Ambassador Amal Mudallali, regarding Israeli violations, and stressed that the UN must deter "Israel" from violating and using Lebanese airspace to launch its attacks against Syria.

A Syrian military source said yesterday, Thursday, that Israeli occupation forces carried out air aggression with bursts of missiles through southeast Beirut, pointing out that the aggression targeted some locations surrounding Damascus and Homs.

The source explained that the Syrian air defenses confronted the aggression's missiles and shot down most of them.

Yesterday, Al Mayadeen correspondent in Damascus reported hearing explosions in the sky of Damascus as a result of the Syrian air defenses confronting hostile targets.

Our correspondent indicated that the Syrian air defenses confronted hostile targets in the western countryside of Damascus and southern Homs. He also mentioned that the Israeli aggression targeted areas northwest of Damascus and areas surrounding the international airport.
