Lebanon's claims over Al-Ghajar seem legitimate: Ex-IOF Chief of Staff
A former Israeli occupation chief of staff says the file of the two Hezbollah tents set up in Al-Ghajar village must be resolved by US envoy Amos Hochstein.
Former Israeli occupation Chief of Staff Dan Halutz admitted on Wednesday that the Lebanese claim regarding Al-Ghajar is rightful, Israeli media reported.
It is noteworthy that tensions have recently risen between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation after the latter's violations in the northern part of Al-Ghajar - a town at the border with occupied Palestine - represented in the construction of a barbed wire fence and a concrete wall around the entire town.
Last June, Hezbollah set up two tents in the Lebanese Shebaa Farms. Commenting on the tents and in response to a question about what he would have done were he the current Israeli occupation Chief of Staff, Halutz indicated that three months have passed since the tents were set up, adding that calling for action now could lead the situation to spiral out of control.
In an interview for the Israeli Channel 13, Halutz considered that there is no tent in the world that deserves to start a war for its sake, adding that this matter must be resolved by US envoy Amos Hochstein, who dealt before with the file of the indirect maritime borders demarcation agreement between Lebanon and "Israel".
Israeli media previously cited senior Israeli occupation military leaders as saying that the Israeli army would not go to war with Lebanon over a tent at the border, reflecting "Israel's" unpreparedness for a confrontation, amid its internal crisis over the judicial overhaul that the government of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu seeks to approve and in light of the Lebanese Resistance's evergrowing capabilities.
It is noteworthy that in mid-June, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Nasrallah underlined that it is not permissible to remain silent about the occupation of the village Al-Ghajar, stressing that Lebanon's stance regarding this issue must be decisive.
"We can retrieve the Lebanese part of the village of Al-Ghajar from the Israeli occupation, and this land shall never be left behind," Sayyed Nasrallah stressed during his speech on the 17th anniversary of the July 2006 war.
