Majority of Republicans back call for ceasefire in Palestine: Poll
According to the survey, 66% of voters "strongly agree" or "somewhat agree" that the US should utilize its connection to "Israel" to prevent further civilian deaths.
A Friday poll has revealed that most Republicans support a call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
On Tuesday, the Israeli occupation carried out a massacre before the entire world as it bombed a hospital housing over a thousand civilians, killing hundreds in the process.
Palestinian media reported that al-Ahli Baptist Hospital was housing over a thousand people, including Palestinian refugees, patients, and media personnel.
Preliminary reports suggest that no less than 500 people were martyred in the Israeli aggression.
A Data for Progress poll, conducted by a progressive think tank and polling firm, polled 1,329 potential voters nationwide.
According to the survey, 66% of voters "strongly agree" or "somewhat agree" that "the U.S. should call for a ceasefire and a de-escalation of violence in Gaza," as well as utilize its strong ties with "Israel" in order to prevent further civilian deaths.
The survey found that 56% of Republicans, 80% of Democrats, and 57% of independents support a ceasefire call.
This comes as numerous Democrats, including Representatives Cori Bush, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley, called for an urgent ceasefire in Gaza on Friday.
Rep. Ilhan Omar, a member of Congress, has received death threats for denouncing the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the blind US support for the occupation.
Pro-Palestine stances land Muslim Congress members death threats
Progressive lawmakers, such as Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, were briefed by the US Capitol Police and the House Sergeant at Arms regarding potential threats. The voicemails they received contained profanity-laced death threats, with one message referring to Omar as a "terrorist Muslim". Another threat suggested that a vigilante group had information about “all your addresses and handed them out to rapists.”
This comes shortly after Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib stood her ground on Wednesday, declining to apologize for her statement the previous day in which she held "Israel" responsible for the airstrike on a hospital in Gaza, an assertion that garnered strong criticism from Republicans.
During a Friday press conference, Omar asked, "How do you look at one atrocity and say, 'This is wrong,' but you watch as bodies pile up as neighborhoods are leveled? Israel has dropped more bombs in the last 10 days then we dropped in a whole year in Afghanistan. Where is your humanity? Where is your outrage? Where is your care for people?"
Hundreds of individuals convened in a peaceful demonstration outside the Capitol Building on Wednesday to protest the war on Gaza.
The rally was organized by multiple Jewish anti-occupation organizations, namely Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow.
More than 1,000 Jewish participants, among others, are urging US lawmakers to adopt a resolution supporting a ceasefire in the war on Gaza.
This comes after the UN Security Council declined a resolution proposed by Russia on Monday, which aimed to establish a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.
