On Sunday, a funeral procession was held for martyr Sayyed Safieddine alongside his predecessor martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, in a solemn ceremony that began at Camille Chamoun Sports City and concluded at Sayyed Nasrallah’s burial site near the Lebanese capital Beirut.
An estimated 1.4 million people from across Lebanon, the Arab world, and beyond took part in the funeral, alongside Lebanese and international officials, as well as party and political delegations.
Hezbollah announced on October 23, 2024, the martyrdom of Sayyed Safieddine, the head of the Executive Council of the Resistance movement and later Secretary-General, in an Israeli airstrike. Sayyed Safieddine was elected as Secretary General after Sayyed Nasrallah's martyrdom.
Sayyed Safieddine, a key figure in the Lebanese Resistance movement, was killed alongside several of his fellow fighters, in what the Resistance condemned as a "criminal and aggressive Zionist airstrike."
In a heartfelt statement, Hezbollah paid tribute to Sayyed Safieddine, describing him as a "great leader and esteemed martyr on the path to al-Quds." The statement emphasized that he was martyred content and patient, accepting his fate as a martyr.
