Medvedev says Moscow will respond in kind to freezing of Russian assets
The Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council says Moscow may seize foreign assets in response to Western sanctions targeting Russia.
The Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, said on Saturday that Moscow will respond in kind to seizing "the money of Russian citizens and Russian companies abroad".
Medvedev said that Russia will respond with the seizure of the funds of foreigners and "foreign companies in Russia on a country basis" on his account on the Vkontakte social network.

"They are also threatening to seize the money of Russian citizens and Russian companies abroad. Just everyone, without any sanctions. Completely. Kind of out of spite. But this will have to be responded in kind, with the seizure of funds of foreigners and foreign companies in Russia on a country basis," Medvedev wrote.
The Deputy Chairman did not exclude the nationalization of property whose owners are registered in "unfriendly countries", adding that neither he nor his family members had or have any foreign accounts or property abroad.
"Fortunately, we have a rich experience and we have a law regarding this issue, a strict one. So the fun is just beginning," Medvedev added.
