Misplaced equipment: Major gaffe in "Israel's" maneuvers
Israeli media discusses a serious flaw in the Israeli army's maneuvers in Cyprus.
Israeli daily Israel Hayom reported on Tuesday that the Israeli military committed a gaffe during its drills in Cyprus.
The paper said Israeli Air Forces Hercules planes dropped vehicles and equipment on fighters waiting to execute an assault. However, the tactical equipment, which the soldiers needed for training, landed more than a mile away from the planned spot.
The mistake happened shortly after 12:00 noon, which prompted a temporary stop in the exercises, and an investigation was opened to examine the circumstances behind the incident.
This mistake was reminiscent of gaffes that took place in wartime, and not in a training exercise, namely during the July 2006 War with Lebanon, in which the IOF tried to drop supplies for its soldiers on Lebanese territory, only to have these supplies fall into the hands of the Lebanese resistance against the Israeli occupation.
This incident could have had unpleasant consequences for Cyprus, which is hosting the IOF during the military drills.
Earlier last month, the Israeli occupation announced the launch of the largest military drills in its history in occupied Palestine, codenamed "Chariots of Fire", as the region faces high tensions.
