Moroccans Call for Protests Refusing Gantz's Visit
The Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Against Normalisation is organizing a protest against Israeli Security Minister Benny Gantz's visit to Morocco.
The Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Against Normalisation announced that it will organize Wednesday a protest in front of the Parliament building in Rabat, refusing Israeli occupation Security Minister Benny Gantz's scheduled visit to Morocco that will last for two days.
The Front urged Moroccans to reject normalization with the Israeli occupation, through strong participation in the organized protest.
In a statement, the Front called on all the Moroccans supporting the Palestinian cause and rejecting normalization to express their refusal of "Gaza's Butcher," in reference to Gantz.
Before departing, Gantz, the first Israeli security minister to make an official visit to Morocco, said he would sign military "cooperation agreements" with Moroccan counterparts and "continue to strengthen ties."
The trip aims to "set the foundation for all future security cooperation between "Israel" and Morocco," a source familiar with the visit told AFP.
"Until now there has been some level of cooperation; this truly formalizes it," the source added.
Morocco reached an agreement with the Israeli occupation to normalize relations at the end of last year.
Last August, Israeli occupation Foreign Minister Yair Lapid visited Morocco and opened an Israeli diplomatic representation in Rabat in the presence of Moroccan Deputy Foreign Minister Mohcine Jazouli.
In late July, thousands of Moroccans launched a social media campaign and created hashtags to express their refusal and anger for receiving "Israel's" first tourist delegation to Morocco, describing those among the arriving delegation as "war criminals."
