The Russian Foreign Ministry announces that preparations are underway for the expected Putin-Biden meeting.
The meeting between the Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden requires thorough preparation, which is now underway, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov announced.
"In order for the meeting to take place, thorough preparation is needed," the senior diplomat noted.
The agenda of the upcoming meeting between Russian and US presidents, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden, is very extensive, Ryabkov said.
"The agenda is huge," the senior diplomat said. "For the meeting to take place, thorough preparations are needed," he noted.
Ryabkov also pointed out that the US was making a number of claims against Russia, in particular, on the Ukrainian issue. "[We] need to explain them in detail what is happening, and we are doing this," the senior diplomat said.
On Friday, Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that it was preferable to hold the Putin-Biden meeting via video linkup, but everything would depend on the presidents’ decisions. According to Peskov, there is no certainty about the timing of the talks, they can take place before either New Year or later.
