Mossad, CIA chiefs tackle temporary pause with Qatar PM: Source
The trilateral meeting's benefit was that it brought the CIA, Mossad, and Qatar together in real time at a single table to expedite the process, Reuters reported citing a source.
The Qatari Prime Minister met with the heads of the CIA and Mossad, on Thursday, in Doha to negotiate the terms of an agreement for the release of captives the Palestinian Resistance is holding and a temporary pause to the war on Gaza, as per Reuters, citing a source briefed on the meeting.
It was uncertain how the discussions would end, the source said.
In further detail, the meeting was reportedly presided over by Qatari mediators with David Barnea, the head of "Israel's" Mossad intelligence agency, CIA Director William Burns, and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. On Wednesday night, the mediators met with representatives of the Hamas political office to discuss the possible terms of a deal, the source noted.
According to the source, the trilateral meeting's benefit was that it brought the three sides together in real time at a single table to expedite the process.
Talks also covered the issue of permitting fuel imports for humanitarian purposes into Gaza, which "Israel" has previously and repeatedly rejected.
It is worth noting that a source said, as quoted by Reuters, on Wednesday, that the discussions included the possibility of freeing up from ten to fifteen captives in return for a one- to two-day humanitarian pause.
On Thursday, Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani landed in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, where he had a meeting with Emirati President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as per a statement by the Emiri Diwan.
Sheikh Tamim was accompanied by the Qatari Prime Minister. The visit's objective was not immediately disclosed.
Meanwhile, senior Hamas officials headed by Ismail Haniyeh and Khaled Meshaal landed in Cairo on Thursday, as per a statement by the Palestinian Resistance movement.
Earlier today, US President Joe Biden's top military advisor and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Q. Brown, stated that finding a solution for the war on Gaza could potentially prevent the public from leaning more toward the Palestinian Resistance.
He did not, however, mention the resolution being a ceasefire.
Brown continued that "Israel's" aim for its aggression in Gaza, which is the complete destruction of Hamas, was "a pretty large order." He further added that "Israel's" main target is the senior leadership of Hamas, which he thought was easier to achieve.
"I think the longer this goes, the harder it can become," he told reporters before landing in Japan on Thursday.
