The Lebanese Grand Jaafari Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan emphasized on Sunday that in any open Israeli war, "Israel" should expect about half a million missiles and a destructive capacity that will take it 70 years back.

Qabalan said in a statement that the current war on Lebanon's southern front is at the core of Lebanon's regional interests, adding that there is no value for Lebanon without its regional interests and that strategic deterrence is part of its supreme interests, as there is no deterrence without war.

He maintained that the war here is a mission of rescue, not just pre-emptive.

The Mufti addressed Israeli settlers, saying, "The Resistance is the cornerstone of Lebanon's survival and future, and Lebanon's sovereignty is linked to the capabilities of the Resistance and the size of its national arsenal that guarantees its regional interests. The Resistance's fight for Lebanon obliges it to protect the national and sovereign project, including strengthening the role of the state and national partnership and cutting the Zionist hand off of Lebanon."

Qabalan further pointed out that any Israeli escalation would be in favor of the Resistance, not against it. "What is happening in Gaza affects the interests of Lebanese regional security. The Resistance has no ambitions from this fateful war except for Lebanon's sovereignty, national interests, historical partnerships, and the interests of its sects," he stressed before reminding that "the national weight of Christians is part of Lebanon's history of strength. Christian partnership in Imam Sadr's resistance option is resounding. Historically, the Resistance has been about defending Lebanon's interests against Tel Aviv's ambitions, rather than participating in massacres in Lebanon."

He explained that everyone's interest lies in the victory of the Resistance, not in incitement against it.

Victory of Resistance is a victory for Lebanon

The Mufti also stressed that the time of Tel Aviv's victories is over and that counting on the defeat of the Resistance is similar to counting on a mirage, reminding that the Israeli occupation forces with all its equipment, gear, and reserves could not win against fighters facing it with individual weapons for eight months now in the Gaza Strip, while what awaits them in Lebanon is an arsenal of destruction, fighting, war technology, and terror.

Qabalan concluded his statement by saying that the victory of the Resistance is a victory for Lebanon, especially for the Christian sects. Lebanon holds no value without its patriotic Christians, according to him, and there should be no fighting at their expense nor sovereignty without their national interests taken into consideration.

He then emphasized, addressing Lebanese Christians, that some are demanded to be part of Lebanon's victory, which can be achieved through Resistance, and not a mouthpiece for "Israel".

"There is no greater political assassination for Lebanon than antagonizing the Resistance and preventing a presidential settlement worthy of the sacrifices of the Southern Front and the national prices paid for its sake," said Qabalan.
