Netanyahu to present new government to parliament Thursday
Israeli Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu must swear in his coalition, led by Likud, by January 2 at the latest.
“Israel's” incoming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will introduce his new administration to the Knesset on Thursday at 11 am, as per Israeli media.
Netanyahu will propose his new administration to the Knesset and enlist its support. Then, the appointed opposition chairman, departing Prime Minister Yair Lapid, will speak, and a discussion will follow, as per the same report. The ministers of the new government will be sworn in that evening.
Since incumbent Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin (Likud) is anticipated to step down in order to serve as Justice Minister, the Thursday plenum meeting will reportedly include a vote for a new speaker.
Levin will submit his letter of resignation on Tuesday, 48 hours before the hearing, and make an announcement to the Knesset around 4 pm, as per media reports.
Netanyahu's alliance of far-right and ultra-Orthodox parties, led by Likud, has until January 2 to take the oath of office.
According to reports, the coalition agreements have not yet been fully inked and are anticipated to be done so about 24 hours before the new administration is sworn in.
It is worth noting that Netanyahu has reportedly sacrificed security stability by appointing ministers who did not serve in the Israeli occupation army or served for a shorter period of time in order to avoid being indicted, as per Israeli media.
The reports added that “Israel” appears to have entered a state of delirium in the distribution of ministerial portfolios in Netanyahu's government.
In a video of his conversation with Herzog, Netanyahu claimed that he has succeeded in forming a government, just minutes before the midnight deadline.
The Israeli occupation witnessed a turbulent period that saw Israeli settlers go to the polls five times in less than four years. The weeks of wrangling are far from over as Netanyahu’s coalition may still face significant internal tensions.
With a spree of Israeli barbarism and near-nightly raids as the occupation forces constantly crack on Palestinians most notably in the West Bank, 2022 is shaping up to be the deadliest year in years.
167 Palestinians were murdered as a result of Israeli gunfire in the occupied West Bank this year, according to the Palestinian Authority Health Ministry.
