Sputnik reported on Tuesday that it obtained information on a confidential report that was submitted to the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee on the DPRK, indicating that no evidence was found regarding the alleged supply of weapons from the  Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to Russia to support its war efforts in Ukraine.

The report was submitted by a group of experts, a diplomatic source told Sputnik.

"Experts did not find any evidence that the US accusations regarding the supply of weapons from the DPRK to Russia have at least some basis," the source said.

Over the past several months, the West has accused the DPRK of supplying weapons to support Russia in its special military operation in Ukraine.

On January 29, the DPRK issued a statement denying Washington's claims that it is providing weapons to Russia's Wagner private military group.

Korea's Central News Agency cited a senior DPRK official who rejected Washington's accusations.

In his statement, the official warned that the US would face a "really undesirable result" if it continued to spread the "self-made rumor".

"Trying to tarnish the image of (North Korea) by fabricating a non-existent thing is a grave provocation that can never be allowed and that cannot but trigger its reaction," said Kwon Jong Gun, director general of the Department of US Affairs of DPRK's Foreign Ministry.

Kwon called it "a foolish attempt to justify its offer of weapons to Ukraine."

When asked to comment on allegations that North Korea and Iran were assisting Moscow in its efforts in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Rossiya 24 and RIA Novosti that Russia's defense industry was doing well.
