No excuse for neo-Nazi crimes in Ukraine: Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin asserts that people in the world must understand that the true origins of the conflict in Ukraine were unleashed by the Western elites.
Russian President Vladimir Putin tackled the issue of crimes being committed by some Ukrainian soldiers at the front, saying, "There is and will never be an excuse for crimes against civilians, terrorist attacks, and punitive actions organized by neo-Nazis."
Putin stressed on Tuesday that the content of the film [a Serbian film released in Russia about the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by Kiev] should give the people a sense of hope and instill confidence in them to respond to all challenges while preserving traditional morals and values inherited from their common ancestors.
He pointed out that the mass violations of religious rights and freedoms against millions of people in Ukraine are tragic events, arguing the world must understand the origins of the Ukraine conflict, which was initiated by the West.
His statements echo that of his message in January 2023 to organizers of and participants in the events prepared for the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of Victims of the Holocaust and the 78th anniversary of the liberation by the Red Army of the prisoners of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, that attempts to revise Russia’s role in the WWII victory pave the way for reviving Nazism’s “deadly ideology."
He stated that during the ongoing special military operation in Ukraine, Russian soldiers continue to fight the evil that became possible because lessons of history have been forgotten, stressing that it was the Soviet people who ended the barbaric actions of the Nazis in 1945.
“We must clearly understand that any attempt to revise our country’s contribution to the Great Victory actually means justifying the crimes of Nazism, and opens the way for the revival of its deadly ideology,” the Russian President noted.
“The forgetting of the lessons of history leads to the repetition of terrible tragedies. Evidence of this is the crimes against civilians, ethnic cleansing, and punitive actions that are being organized by neo-Nazis in Ukraine. It is with this evil that our warriors are fighting courageously, shoulder to shoulder,” Putin underscored.
