Number of Israelis injured since Oct. 7 exceeded 50,000
The "National Insurance Institute of Israel" reveals that among the 52,571 casualties, 102 sustained serious injuries and 171 sustained moderate ones.
The "National Insurance Institute of Israel" revealed on Sunday that 100 days into the war on Gaza, the number of Israelis injured has exceeded 50,000.
The Institute confirmed that 52,571 Israelis were injured and noted that it has disbursed over 5.5 billion shekels (about 1.5 million dollars) to them so far, highlighting the extent of the losses incurred.
Detailing the number of casualties, the Institute explained that 3,619 were injured in only two locations in the Gaza Envelope on October 7, while the rest of the injuries were from other areas, including settlements in the Envelope and cities that were infiltrated by Palestinian Resistance fighters during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli institute did not address Israeli military casualties, mentioning only civilians. Among the 52,571 casualties, 102 sustained serious injuries and 171 sustained moderate ones.
In a related context, Israeli media reported that despite the significant increase in the number of panic and shock cases among Israelis, the government refuses to adjust its budget to cater to the needs of treatment centers in the Gaza Envelope settlements.
They pointed out that the budget for 2024 has not changed and remains as it was pre-war, meaning that tens of thousands of settlers in need of assistance and treatment will not receive any.
Earlier on Sunday, the Eran Association, which focuses on providing initial mental aid, released a report stating that since the beginning of the war, its aid centers received more than 100,000 requests from settlers and soldiers, with 3,000 received during the October 7 events.
Eran CEO, David Koren, pointed out that against the backdrop of budget discussions and the importance of preserving the mental health of all Israelis, "it is important to understand that the massive number of requests is evidence of the need for assistance."
According to Koren, his association has received "challenging and truly heartbreaking requests since the start of the events and the heavy disaster that befell Israel."
On Saturday, the Israeli news website Walla reported that since the beginning of the war, "Israel" has acknowledged that about 4000 of its soldiers became disabled.
The website revealed that Israeli authorities are bracing themselves to receive a large number of disabled soldiers who need extensive rehabilitation services.
Walla! cited a prediction that the number of disabled soldiers will reach 30,000 - a 40% increase from the current figure.
It also revealed that the Israeli occupation military conceals data of the wounded soldiers from the public, fearing a decrease in morale.
"I have been in the organization for 30 years, and I have never encountered such a large number of severely wounded individuals. There are many wounded with amputated limbs, blindness, or paralysis," expressed Idan Kaliman, chairman of the Israeli military's Organization for the Disabled, as quoted by Walla!.
Kaliman highlighted that "for every physiotherapist we've worked with, we now ask for four to meet the scale of the wounded, the same for all treatment professions."
The Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post revealed in its editorial a couple of days ago the toll of over 6,000 wounded from the Israeli security and military establishment, including the Israeli army and police, who have been injured since October 7.
The Post considered it likely that the number would reach nearly 20,000, once those diagnosed with post-traumatic disorders are included.
