Sheikh Ahmad al-Khalili, the Grand Mufti of Oman, has called on the Palestinian Resistance factions to maintain their armed struggle, warning that laying down their weapons would leave them defenseless in the face of relentless aggression.

In a statement posted Tuesday on his official account on X, al-Khalili cautioned that “no one will come to aid if they lay down their arms,” urging Palestinians to stand strong, embrace the teachings of the Quran, and endure both hardship and ease with steadfastness and faith.
Wider context
The prominent cleric voiced deep concern over growing calls from within the Arab world urging Gaza’s Resistance to disarm. “How can such appeals be made while the enemy besieges the people of Gaza from every direction, bombards them with lethal weapons, and cuts off both food and medicine?” he asked.
His comments come amid escalating regional pressure on Palestinian factions to accept disarmament as a condition for ceasefire or reconstruction, despite ongoing Israeli aggression and a worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
Earlier this week, Sheikh al-Khalili had also appealed to international organizations and global powers to guarantee the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. He condemned what he described as criminal acts by opportunists who intercept and resell humanitarian supplies at inflated prices. “Preventive measures must be taken to stop the hands of these blackmailing pirates,” he urged.
Al-Khalili’s remarks reflect growing frustration across the Arab and Islamic world with both international inaction and attempts to delegitimize the armed Palestinian resistance amid ongoing massacres and siege.
