On Al Mayadeen Clubhouse, Everyone Wanted to Talk to Leila Khaled
The dialogue with the iconic Leila Khaled on Al Mayadeen Clubhouse - why is it so important? What does the size of interaction reveal?
Al Mayadeen Clubhouse hosted a remarkable dialogue with the freedom-fighter Leila Khaled, along with the freed Palestinian prisoner Maher al-Akhras and the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Wisconsin, Seif Daana.
The huge youth participation was remarkable knowing that the dialogue lasted 4 hours.
Palestine: At the core of Arab causes
The dialogue in the Clubhouse proves that the Palestinian cause is still at the forefront of the new generation’s interests despite all attempts to brainwash the youth through social media and direct them away from the Palestinian cause. All the distortion and falsification attempts failed.
Leila Khaled, who was at the vanguard of the Palestinian cause, still stands strong, defiant. Moreover, the attitude of the young participants was outstanding, as they still view her, as well as the former fighters and resistance, as unforgotten icons.
The political affairs editor, who moderated yesterday's episode on Clubhouse, Malak Khaled, said that yesterday's episode was distinguished by the large numbers of youth participants from various Arab countries. There were up to 1,300 participants, and the dialogue lasted about 4 hours.
Moreover, the type of questions directed to Leila Khaled stood out, and she, in turn, answered all the questions, calmly and passionately.

State of art tool?
Leila Khaled spoke about how the new generation should master the tools available at their hands, noting that prior to that, in the early years of the Nakba, Palestinians were viewed only as refugees.
"We developed ourselves, and we developed our weapons of confrontation. Today, one of the weapons of confrontation, or the soft war, is social media," she said.

The interaction on the platform
Al Mayadeen Online Director, Bahia Halawi, said that Clubhouse is attracting a generation of young people who want to interact through the platform, allowing them to address influencers and activists freely, especially after several companies silenced Palestinian voices and censor issues concerning the region: at the forefront of which is the Resistance and the Palestinian cause.
According to Halawi, Al Mayadeen Clubhouse provided the young generation with the platform and space they need to address these influencers and freedom-fighters. In general, there were spontaneous interventions from activists, intellectuals, and great personalities.
What is even more remarkable is that these young men did not leave the "room" after half an hour or after listening to their questions, but rather they stayed for more than 3 hours, the Al Mayadeen Online Director said.
As for the attendees, Halawi explained that they were from several Arab countries and even Arabs living in Western countries, noting that this extended the dialogue as everyone wanted to talk to Leila Khaled.
Halawi stressed that Leila Khaled, after all these years, still has the ability to gather and influence younger generations.
