A poll for CNN was conducted on Sunday among the American public to survey views on the current attacks on Gaza and the US involvement in it. The results are as follows:

Israeli actions in the attacks:

50% - fully justified (68% Republican – 38% Democrats)
20% - partially
8% - not at all
21% - unsure

Among the fully justified:

81% - 65+ years old
56% - 50-64 yrs
44% - 35-49 yrs
27% - 18-34 yrs

Sympathy for Israelis:

71% - a lot
96% - some

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken released a joint press conference with Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday stating, "The message that I bring to Israel is this: You may be strong enough on your own to defend yourself but as long as America exists, you will never ever have to, we will always be there by your side."

Sympathy for Palestinians:

41% - a lot
87% - some

Mainly younger Americans and Democrats were more likely to express a lot of sympathy for the Palestinian people than Republicans and older Americans.

For 65+ year-olds, 87% sympathized with Israelis, 36% with Palestinians
Under 35 year-olds, 61% for Israelis and 54% for Palestinians

Trust that Biden makes the right decisions for the war:

16% - a lot
31% - moderate
26% - not much
28% - none

In the “a lot/moderate” category, 80% were Democrats and 13% were Republicans.

Biden is currently trying to pass a budget request that entails $2 billion for Ukraine and "Israel", which has proven to be quite important for Biden who has also been contemplating adding Taiwan to the duo just to get it approved while some Republicans are calling to cut money for Kiev.

The right amount of assistance to "Israel":

35% - right amount
15% - too much aid
14% - too little
36% - unsure

For those following the news closely, 51% see the right amount of aid, 7% see too much, 21% see too little, and 21% are unsure.

Members of Congress have been already asking to halt aid to "Israel", as Biden further stated that he instructed his national security team to establish communication and cooperation channels between the US and Israeli counterparts, "military to military, intelligence to intelligence to diplomat to diplomat to make sure Israel has what it needs."

War to bring terrorism into the US:

66% overall are worried

75% who believe so are 65+ year-olds; 72% are women and 76% are Republicans.

Following news closely:

71% somewhat closely
26% very closely

The poll was conducted by SSRS from October 12-13 among a sample of 1,003 randomly-selected adults, surveyed by text message. The margin of sampling error was around plus or minus 4.0 percentage points.
