Amjad Shawa, director of the Palestinian Network of Non-Governmental Organizations, warned that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is deteriorating rapidly.
In an interview with Al Mayadeen on Saturday, Shawa said that “at least 300,000 children have been classified as malnourished,” underscoring the scale of the crisis.
He stressed that tens of thousands of Palestinians remain trapped inside Gaza City, unable to move or leave, leaving them vulnerable to massacres amid ongoing aggression.
According to Shawa, more than 100,000 Palestinians have been forced to flee since August 1, with around 40% heading south toward Khan Younis. He noted that “the area of Khan Younis is 3% of the Gaza Strip and does not exceed 12 kilometers,” highlighting the severe overcrowding and strain on resources as families seek refuge.
Catastrophic assault on Gaza City
Shawa’s warnings come as Israeli occupation forces intensify their assault on Gaza City. Since Friday, occupation forces have expanded their targets to include residential towers in the city center, escalating the destruction of civilian infrastructure.
One of the most recent strikes targeted an inhabited house in Sheikh Radwan, a neighborhood in Gaza City, leaving eight martyrs and several others injured.
Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported that the Israeli occupation forces have killed 41 Palestinians since dawn on Saturday. The targeting of residential buildings and crowded neighborhoods has raised fears of further mass casualties, with continuous threats to strike additional towers in Gaza City.
As the humanitarian situation worsens, warnings from Palestinian organizations emphasize both the immediate dangers of bombardment and the long-term risks of malnutrition, displacement, and a collapsing civilian infrastructure across the Gaza Strip.
At around noon today, a massacre was reported in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, where the occupation targeted the home of the Abu Tayeh family on al-Jalaa Street.
The airstrike resulted in the martyrdom of eight civilians and caused multiple injuries. Several victims remain trapped under the rubble, according to Al Mayadeen’s correspondent.
