Pakistan: Deaths, injuries in explosion in Balochistan
Deaths and injuries were reported in an explosion that rocked the southwestern province of Balochistan by a remote-controlled bomb.
At least 4 people were killed and at least 15 others were injured in an explosion in Quetta, the capital of Pakistan's Balochistan Province.
"At least 4 people were killed and several others wounded in an explosion near Saleem Medical Complex in Quetta," local newspaper The Express Tribune quoted Quetta Hospital Chief Javed Akhtar as saying.
The newspaper confirmed that the Prime Minister of Balochistan, Mir Abdul Quddus Bizingo, condemned the explosion and expressed his dissatisfaction with the deterioration of security measures in the city.
The newspaper pointed out that "the cause of the explosion has not yet been determined," and that the "security forces cordoned off the area of ​​the explosion and opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident."
No party has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, but previous similar attacks were carried out by militants and separatists.
According to AFP, the explosion occurred as party members were leaving the area after a conference in the city.
