Palestine to hold large media rally to uphold UNGA Gaza resolution
The Palestinian ambassador to the UN said that the Palestinian mission intends to mobilize all countries involved that voted to adopt Jordan’s resolution of an “immediate and sustained” humanitarian truce and cessation of hostilities.
Palestinian Ambassador to the UN Riyad Mansour relayed to Sputnik that Palestine might organize a large-scale media event in the next few days in support of the United Nations General Assembly resolution on Gaza which 120 countries voted in favor of.
“In the coming days, if we don’t see a ceasefire put into place, we might do more of that stuff [media events], with a larger number of ambassadors participating in that expression of support for the implementation of the General Assembly Resolution,” Mansour said.
He noted that the Palestinian mission intends to mobilize all countries that voted involved to adopt Jordan’s resolution of an “immediate and sustained” humanitarian truce and cessation of hostilities.
“We have to find a place where we can show this large number of ambassadors addressing the media. If we find a place and a time and arrange the details we might do it,” he added.
Mansour previously said that the UN Security Council had a moral duty to act in a bid to end the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip he said was claiming 12 lives every hour.
"Don't send the signal that the Palestinian lives don't matter," Mansour said, adding, "Don't dare say Israel is not responsible for the bombs it is dropping over their heads."

Rallying against 'crime and tragedy'
Mansour spoke on the matter of the ongoing and spread of pro-Palestine rallies around the globe.
"We believe that they [protests] are [putting extra pressure]. People are outraged all over the globe," he said, adding, "They look at the tragedy unfolding before their eyes in the Gaza Strip in which they see children, civilians, and mass destruction of buildings and property.
"Their hearts get broken as a result of this crime and tragedy, so they express their feelings in these large demonstrations to pressure their governments to pressure Israel to stop this carnage against the Palestinian people."
He also spoke on behalf of Palestine, saying it appreciates anyone who supports a ceasefire and hopes they can succeed.
Jordan’s motion for a ceasefire was passed at the UN in New York by 120 votes to 14 opposed, and 45 countries abstentions. The result was surprising as even France, Spain, and the UK refused to join the US' opposition of the motion.
In its motion, Jordan added that the release of captives must be unconditional. In a similar context, the representative of the Hamas delegation in Moscow, Abu Hamid, told Kommersant that the Palestinian Resistance does not intend to release captives until an agreement to a ceasefire is reached.
On his part, the Israeli UN Ambassador Gilad Erdan claimed the resolution belonged in the "dustbin of history."
