Palestinian factions praise Nicaragua over severing ties with 'Israel'
Nicaragua had cut ties with the Israeli occupation over its genocidal war on Gaza, a decision that was highly praised by Palestinian Resistance factions.
Palestinian Resistance factions welcomed Nicaragua's announcement on Saturday to sever diplomatic relations with the Israeli occupation following the country's condemnation of Israeli attacks on Palestinian territories.
Nicaragua declared its decision to cut ties with the Israeli occupation, with the country's Vice President labeling the Israeli government as "fascist" and saying it was committing genocide in light of the ongoing aggression on Gaza and Lebanon.
In a statement on Saturday, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas praised Nicaragua's bold decision, describing it as a response to the "brutal extermination campaign in Gaza" and the Israeli occupation's expansion of its war into Lebanon.
Hamas called the move a "courageous step toward isolating this fascist entity and condemning its extensive violations of international laws and human norms, which are carried out with political and military support from Washington and some Western powers."
Hamas further commended Nicaragua for upholding its "moral and political obligations toward the Palestinian people and their just cause," urging all nations "to take a clear stance against Israeli arrogance toward the Palestinian people and the region's populations."
PIJ: Nicaragua move message to Arab states
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement (PIJ) also hailed Nicaragua's decision, stating, "We place this stance, which has been echoed by several Latin American countries, before Arab and Muslim governments that are normalizing relations with the criminal entity, particularly those providing it with economic lifelines and support networks."
The PIJ questioned the sincerity of these governments' commitment to Arab and Islamic principles.
PFLP: Nicaragua dealt massive blow to 'Israel'
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) considered Nicaragua's actions a "blow to Israel and a victory for the blood of our peoples."
In its statement, the PFLP praised the "bold stance of Nicaragua's government," viewing the decision as a clear rejection of the ongoing crimes against Palestinians and others in the region.
The PFLP also stressed that the severing of ties is a crucial step in isolating the Israeli occupation globally while emphasizing that this path must be pursued by all countries advocating freedom and justice. The Resistance faction also called for Israeli leaders to be tried in international courts as war criminals.
The PFLP added that this significant decision serves as "a model for other nations to follow in escalating international efforts to isolate Israel, strip it of legitimacy, and halt the supply of arms to this colonial cancerous entity."
DFLP: Muslim, Arab countries must follow suit
The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) echoed praise for Nicaragua's bold move, urging Arab nations to follow suit and cut ties with the Israeli occupation.
In its statement, the DFLP lauded Nicaragua for its "advanced and courageous stance," emphasizing the country's firm position in supporting Palestinian rights to live peacefully in an independent state free from occupation and settlements.
The DFLP also called on Arab nations that have established relations with the Israeli occupation to follow the examples set by Nicaragua, Colombia, and Bolivia, all of which have recently severed diplomatic ties with the Israeli occupation.
The Resistance faction also praised Mexico's newly appointed president, who called for global recognition of a free, independent Palestinian state with al-Quds as its capital based on the 1967 borders.
Nicaragua had previously kicked off procedures to try Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Canada before the International Court of Justice for aiding in the genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza by exporting arms to the Israeli occupation.
In a statement, Nicaragua stressed that these nations are responsible for "gross and systematic violations to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, international humanitarian law, and customary law."
Nicaragua had also filed a case against Germany before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), requesting that the court impose urgent measures to prevent Berlin from supplying weapons and other forms of support to "Israel", before the ICJ saying that "circumstances were not such" to accuse Berlin of violating a genocide convention.
This comes as the Israeli occupation military continues with its aggression across the Gaza Strip, killing more than 42,000 Palestinians and targeting and destroying civilian infrastructure since waging war on the strip on October 7, 2023.
