Palestinian FM: UK's Decision is Submission to "Israel"
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry says that UK's decision to classify Hamas as a "terrorist organization" is "an attack on the Palestinian people."
Today, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the British Home Office's decision to classify Hamas as a " terrorist organization ", saying that it considers it as yielding to Israeli pressure.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said that "the decision is an attack on the Palestinian people, who are subjected to the most heinous occupation and historical injustice established by the Balfour Declaration," adding that "London, with this decision, placed obstacles in the way of achieving peace, truce efforts, and the reconstruction of Gaza."
The Foreign Ministry stressed the need to "stop London's policy of double standards and immediately retract the decision," explaining that "we will study with the authorities in question the consequences of this decision on the Palestinian-British bilateral relations."
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said it would also study the consequences of the decision on Britain's role in the region and the limiting of its contribution to any political process.
Earlier, the Palestinian embassy in the UK, and the Palestinian resistance factions, condemned the UK government's decision to classify the Hamas movement as a "terrorist organization," considering it to be dangerously in line with the occupation's agenda.
For his part, Muhammad Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Supreme Political Council in Yemen, commented on the issue saying, "we are certain that the classification is political," adding that this will only add to the determination of Hamas and its supporters to liberate occupied Al-Quds and all of Palestine.
