Palestinian Prisoners Authority demands Abu Hamid be transferred to civil hospital
Abu Hamid was transferred from "Barzilai" Hospital to a clinic in Ramla Prison.
The Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission demanded Wednesday evening that Nasser Abu Hamid be immediately transferred to a civil hospital after he was transferred to a clinic in Ramla prison yesterday from Barzilai hospital.
Karim Ajwa, the lawyer of the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, visited the hospital but was unable to see Abu Hamid. He said he submitted a request in Ramla Prison, and upon getting there, he realized that Abu Hamid's health condition is so critical that he cannot leave even by wheelchair. Ajwa was informed by the administration that Nasser was unable to move to see him because he was on a ventilator.
Ajwa explained that Nasser has been in quarantine for 5 days and has had a Covid test done, which all inmates transferred undergo, according to the prison's administration.
The lawyer revealed that the Askalan prison administration told him Abu Hamid cannot move his hands and feet and will undergo physical therapy.
The Commission held the prison administration fully responsible for the life of the prisoner and added that "his transfer from Barzilai is an official decision to execute him."
Yesterday, the Palestinian Prisoners Club confirmed that the Israeli occupation prisons administration had transferred Abu Hamid from the Israeli "Barzilai" hospital to the Ramle Prison clinic, despite his deteriorating health.
His brother, Naji Abu Hamid, confirmed to Al Mayadeen that "the decision to transfer Nasser to the Ramla prison clinic hides an intention to kill him," noting that he "suffers from a serious health condition and needs intensive care."
Anger in Israeli occupation prisons over Abu Hamid's deteriorating health
The Palestinian National and Islamic Forces Prisoners' Committee reported that the Israeli occupation prisons are in a boiling state, amid the deteriorating health condition of prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid and the spread of the Covid-19 virus among the prisoners.
Earlier, Amani Farahneh, a member of the Palestinian Prisoners Club, pointed out that the Israeli Prisons Service informed the prisoners in Askalan prison, where Abu Hamid was held before being transferred to "Barzilai Hospital", that the prisoner's life is at risk.
It is noteworthy that prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid suffers from lung cancer and was held in intensive care at "Barzilai" Hospital.
The Prisoners' Committee pointed out that the policy of administrative detention threatens hundreds of administrative prisoners who have announced a boycott of the occupation courts procedures, considering that the occupation is slowly killing the prisoners in light of the spread of Covid-19.
The Committee confirmed that all options are open and legitimate to support the prisoners, praising the administrative prisoners’ boycott of the Israeli occupation courts.
Increasing COVID-19 cases among prisoners reflect medical negligence
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Palestine had reported that more than 550 Palestinian prisoners have been infected with Covid-19 in several Israeli prisons.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club reported Sunday that 110 prisoners were infected with COVID-19 in the "Eshel" and "Ofer" prisons.
For its part, Waed Association for Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners announced that the oldest Palestinian prisoner, Nael Barghouti, contracted Covid-19 in the "Eshel" prison.
