Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, announced on Tuesday that it had downed and seized an Israeli drone during a reconnaissance mission over the Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City.

In a statement, the group confirmed the drone was intercepted while conducting espionage operations. The announcement coincided with mortar strikes launched by al-Quds Brigades targeting Israeli occupation forces stationed at Jabal al-Muntar, also east of Shujaiya. The group claimed direct hits on enemy positions.

Meanwhile, both al-Quds Brigades and al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, reported a joint operation on Monday in which they destroyed two Israeli armored personnel carriers. The operation was carried out using a Shawaz-type explosive device in the area of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Mounting Israeli casualties

The Resistance factions confirmed that both vehicles were engulfed in flames and that Israeli helicopters were seen landing in the area to evacuate casualties.

The Israeli occupation military acknowledged earlier the death of one soldier from the 12th Battalion of the Golani Brigade and injuries to 10 others during confrontations in Khan Younis. Four of the injured soldiers were reportedly in critical condition.

On Monday, in a joint operation, fighters from al-Qassam Brigades and al-Quds Brigades targeted an Israeli infantry unit that had taken shelter inside a house. The unit was struck with an anti-personnel explosive, reportedly leaving members of the force either dead or wounded.

Additionally, an al-Qassam Brigades sniper said he had shot and wounded an Israeli soldier in the same location using the locally manufactured Ghoul sniper rifle. The operation took place in the al-Sanati area, east of Abasan al-Kabira near Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Military vehicles hit in northern, southern Gaza

In a separate action, al-Qassam fighters confirmed targeting both an Israeli armored personnel carrier and a Merkava tank using a high-powered roadside explosive device and a martyrdom explosive device in eastern Jabalia, north of Gaza, on June 10, 2025.

According to a follow-up statement, another Merkava tank was targeted with a powerful explosive device on June 11 along al-Sikka Street in eastern Jabalia.

Meanwhile, al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, reported shelling a concentration of Israeli troops and military vehicles stationed around al-Qarara Municipality in northern Khan Younis with a barrage of 60mm mortar shells.

In another development, al-Quds Brigades said its special forces clashed with Israeli troops in close-range combat east of al-Shujaiya neighborhood in Gaza City on Sunday evening. The confrontation resulted in Israeli casualties, with several soldiers reportedly killed or injured.
