A source in the Palestinian Resistance told Al Mayadeen that the final response of the resistance is in the hands of the mediators, and it is the Israelis that refuse to respond to the proposal.
The source added that the resistance leadership is demanding the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces, the return of the displaced Palestinians to their areas, the opening of the crossings, and the entry of aid into Gaza.
The resistance leadership provided everything necessary to the mediators to make efforts successful in reaching a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange deal, the source stressed.
The source emphasized that every time, the mediators bump into the occupation’s efforts to thwart their attempts and disrupt any progress in the negotiations.
Osama Hamdan, a member of the Hamas political bureau, stated in a press conference on Tuesday that Hamas will only consent to swap captives with "Israel" if a ceasefire is achieved.
"Any hostage captives is only possible after a ceasefire and all our conditions are met," Hamdan told a briefing.
He said that Hamas has stated its stance on the plan made by the Egyptian and Qatari mediators, with the organization calling for the total withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
US President Joe Biden had warned today of a "very, very dangerous" situation if no ceasefire is achieved by Ramadan.
Temporary Gaza ceasefire possible despite Israeli hurdles
The Israeli occupation is placing many obstacles in the face of a temporary ceasefire in Gaza, a source in the Palestinian Resistance told Al Mayadeen on Sunday.
"Despite these obstacles, the possibility of reaching an agreement is still viable, especially as the occupation is being dealt heavy blows in Khan Younis and al-Zaytoun neighborhood," one source told Al Mayadeen.
"The withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces and the return of the displaced, from Gaza's south to its north, are major points of contention, so is lifting the blockade on northern Gaza," the source added.
The Palestinian Resistance is keen on putting an end to the Israeli aggression and lifting the blockade, but it will not compromise on its righteous, legitimate demands, he stressed, as "The Resistance's righteous, legitimate demands guarantee a safe, dignified life for Palestinian people."
