The al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced on Wednesday that they, along with the al-Quds Brigades, will hand over the body of an Israeli captive at 5:00 PM (Gaza time), as part of the ongoing Al-Aqsa Flood prisoner exchange agreement.
The al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, confirmed earlier in the day that its forces had discovered the body of an Israeli captive during excavation and search operations in the northern Gaza Strip. The group stated that "work is underway to complete some procedures that precede the handover of the body, in accordance with the established protocols."
The Palestinian Resistance continues to hand over the bodies of Israeli captives recovered during debris removal and field operations throughout the Gaza Strip. These efforts are being carried out in line with the ceasefire agreement that took effect on October 11.
Delivered Gaza remains not linked to last Israeli captives
This comes after the al-Quds Brigades stated they are continuing to search for the body of one of the Israeli captives in the northern Gaza Strip, in coordination with a team from the Red Cross.
Hamas had earlier handed over remains, which the Red Cross believed belonged to one of the two final captives, and the occupation forces then transferred the remains for forensic examination to verify the identity.
In this same development, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had confirmed earlier today that forensic examinations concluded that the remains handed over by Hamas on Tuesday do not belong to either of the last two captives in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, Netanyahu's office said, "The samples brought yesterday for examination from the Gaza Strip have no connection to either of the two deceased hostages," adding that the identification was conducted by the "National Center for Forensic Medicine."
