The Palestinian Ministry of Health on Wednesday confirmed the martyrdom of Mahmoud Jamal Hamdan, 22, who succumbed to critical injuries he sustained from live bullets shot by Israeli occupation forces who stormed the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp in Areeha.

Earlier, Israeli occupation forces stormed the camp, surrounded a house, and fired live bullets at Palestinian citizens, wounding three young men.

Medical crews in the area tried to treat Hamdan after he was shot in the stomach, but occupation soldiers arrested him.

Other Palestinians were also arrested for allegedly carrying out the shooting attack south of Areeha on February 27, which resulted in the killing of an illegal Israeli settler.

In a statement, the Palestinian Prisoners Club indicated that the Israeli occupation forces arrested six civilians from the Aqabat Jaber camp, including four brothers and the son of one of them, who was wounded.

For the third day in a row, Israeli occupation forces continue imposing a strict siege on Areeha following the recent shooting attack, impeding the access of Palestinians to the city or leaving it, and forcing them to stand and wait for long hours at the military checkpoints at the main entrances to the city, in addition to closing the secondary roads leading to it.

It is noteworthy that at least seven Palestinian Resistance fighters were martyred last month in a heavy exchange of fire with Israeli occupation forces in the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp, near Areeha.

Since the beginning of 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have killed 66 Palestinians, according to the WAFA Palestinian news agency.
