Palestinian youths in Gaza defy Israeli diktats, reaffirm resilience
In a resounding statement, Palestinians head to a culturally symbolic square in Gaza City, to reaffirm support to the Resistance, under direct Israeli fire.
Palestinian youths raised banners that read "The Flood of the Free, Gaza" in Arabic, in reference to the motto of International al-Quds Day, which is commemorated on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a daring move, multiple Palestinian youths headed to the al-Saraya and al-Katibah squares in Gaza City, to raise the banners and spray graffiti in defiance of occupation forces and their government.
Shockingly, the group carried on its mission despite being monitored by an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle, equipped with a rifle, which would directly fire at them at a later time.
Al-Katibah Square (the Batallion Square in Arabic) in western Gaza City, was an important cultural landmark for Palestinians since it hosted large events celebrating and commemorating different stages in the history of Palestinian Resistance factions.
As Israeli forces launched their genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, such landmarks were the target of its criminal campaign, as Israelis sought to erase the significant Square from the collective memory of Palestinians.
The Square was destroyed by Israeli bulldozers and later witnessed Israeli tanks circle around it to draw the star of David, a sign appropriated by the Zionists, with their tracks.
The Israeli occupation military released a propaganda video, claiming that its forces achieved another victory in Gaza, by destroying the landmark and provoking Gaza's residents.
On the other hand, Palestinians who have survived the genocidal war for nearly six months, have reaffirmed their support to their Resistance factions, who remain active in every section of the Gaza Strip.
Conducting several activities to commemorate al-Quds Day, Palestinians sprayed graffiti, drew murals in the squares and the walls of destroyed buildings, and organized a communal Iftar in the Grand Omari Mosque.
As part of the events on al-Quds Day, and in appreciation of the tremendous efforts in rescuing and providing care to the victims and covering the Israeli genocide in Gaza, youths distributed flowers to civil defense personnel, paramedics, doctors, and journalists.
The war on Gaza is not just aimed at erratically murdering Palestinians, but the Israeli occupation also seeks to erase key aspects of Palestinian life that have defined the group's resistance and resilience against occupation and their strife for liberation.
