PIJ leader meets with head of Iraqi parliament to discuss Palestine
Al-Nakhalah and Al-Halbousi confirm the deep and unwavering ties between Iraq and Palestine, its people, and its Resistance.
A senior delegation from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement (PIJ) headed by Secretary-General Ziad Al-Nakhalah met with the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Mohammed Al-Halbousi on Sunday
Al-Nakhalah discussed the developments in Palestine and the continuous Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people, especially in the West Bank and occupied Al-Quds. The Resistance leader also highlighted the key role played by the Palestinian Resistance in standing against the occupation's acts of aggression, especially the storming of Al-Aqsa Holy Mosque.
He expressed his appreciation for Iraq's historical and ongoing stances toward the Palestinian cause, which "the blood of Iraq's martyrs in Palestine attests to," and the role of the Iraqi parliament in issuing a law criminalizing normalization.

Iraq's official, partisan, and societal reception of the Islamic Jihad leadership is of great significance, PIJ's leader told Al-Halbousi, stressing that Iraq's strength, independence, and unity of its components are the strength of Palestine and its Resistance.
For his part, the speaker of the Iraqi Parliament welcomed the movement's delegation, pointing to the importance of this visit to Iraq, stressing that the Iraqi official and popular position is supportive of the Palestinian cause and the injustice of the Palestinian people and their right to resist the occupation.
Al-Halbousi confirmed that Iraq rejects normalization with the occupation, and this was embodied in the legislation issued by the House of Representatives, as its members voted unanimously on the law criminalizing normalization.
He also pointed to Baghdad's role and efforts in the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and its endeavor to always remain on the side of the Palestinian people in support of their rights, "because as a duty, this is the least that one can do for the Palestinian people and their Resistance to enjoy Arab support and solidarity, and not to be left alone in their battle with the occupation."

The Resistance delegation also met on Friday with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani.
Rashid welcomed the visit of the PIJ delegation to Iraq and expressed his pride in this visit, noting that "the issue of Al-Quds is not only a Palestinian issue but a humanitarian issue."
On his part, the Iraqi Prime Minister said that "despite all efforts made to deflect Iraq from the issues of the Arab nation, the Iraqi State and its political and societal forces have now regained their strength and unity" and reaffirmed that they "have not abandoned the Palestinian cause as they remain eager to support the resistance in all its forms."
This comes as a delegation of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement is visiing Baghdad at the invitation of top Iraqi officials.
"The presence of the Islamic Jihad in Iraq is a strong message that carries clear implications in terms of Iraq's position in support of our people and their resistance," Al-Nakhalah added.
