57% of voters believe PM Johnson should resign.

Following a series of scandals, support for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his ruling Conservative Party has plummeted, with a majority of respondents believing he should now quit, according to a poll released on Saturday.

Johnson has come under fire in recent weeks for everything, from sponsoring the renovation of his Downing Street home to saying that he helped to guarantee the evacuation of pets from Kabul during the tumultuous western exit last August.

The most damaging reports have been that a party was held at Downing Street during a 2020 Christmas lockdown even when such celebrations were prohibited, with a video showing workers laughing and joking about it.

Support for the Conservatives had plummeted four points to 32% in the Opinium poll by The Observer newspaper, while support for the opposition Labor Party had risen to 41%, its greatest lead since 2014.

It is worth noting that the Conservative party held solid leads in polls since winning a landslide victory in a 2019 election until it fell four points to 32%.

Johnson's personal assessment also fell to its lowest level since the election, 14 points lower than it was two weeks ago.

According to political pundits, there has been rising dissatisfaction with Johnson's leadership among Conservative lawmakers, and scores are anticipated to vote against his idea for new steps to prevent the spread of the Omicron variant next week.

"The findings of our latest poll are certainly dramatic, with a devastating fall in both support for the Conservatives and approval for the prime minister," said Adam Drummond, Head of Political Polling at Opinium.

He warned that Johnson was the "king of comebacks" who had recovered from difficult polling situations before.

"However, unless the Conservatives can turn these numbers around quickly, backbenchers might start asking if the party is over for the prime minister," he said.

The poll also showed that 57% of voters believed he should resign, up from 48% two weeks ago.

It is noteworthy that a few days ago, Johnson faced a widespread attack after the scandal of holding a party without taking into account the restrictions of Corona.
