Pompeo slams White House for downplaying Xi-Putin meeting
Russia and China are underlining the growing ties between their countries in light of attempts by the West to marginalize Russia over the Ukraine war.
Biden's administration downplayed the recent meeting between the Russian and Chinese presidents, thus making a serious strategic mistake, said former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
"To hear the White House play this down as if it's insignificant or unimportant is an enormous strategic mistake … Now, the Biden administration has failed. They have allowed the Russians and the Chinese to come together in this way and it presents an enormous risk to the United States of America and every citizen," Pompeo told the Fox News broadcaster.
The Chinese President visited Russia from March 20-22 on a state visit.

As a result, the presidents issued a joint statement on a plan to develop key areas of cooperation between both countries until the year 2030.
Russia and China are underlining the growing ties between their countries in light of attempts by the West to marginalize Russia over the Ukraine war.
The presidents had talks at the Kremlin on Tuesday, marking the Chinese President's second visit to Russia ever since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
"We are ready to support Chinese business in replacing the production facilities of Western enterprises that have left Russia," Putin underlined during the meeting with Xi and senior Russian officials in the Kremlin.
Xi Jinping underlined that the existing relations between China and Russia demonstrate healthy development dynamics.
"Thanks to our joint efforts, Russian-Chinese relations demonstrate a healthy and stable dynamic of development. Political mutual trust is deepening between our countries, and common interests are multiplying," Xi said at a meeting with Putin in Moscow.
