President Al-Assad discusses the latest with Iran FM
FM Amir-Abdollahian expressed appraisal of the reconciliatory initiatives between Syria and other Arab states
On Thursday, President Bashar al-Assad met with Iran's Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian and a delegation to discuss recent regional and global events and topics of mutual concern. Additionally, Iran's participation in meetings aimed at fostering communication between Damascus and Ankara was discussed as well.
President al-Assad appreciated the Iranian delegation's participation in those discussions and reaffirmed the need for adequate preparations based on an agenda, titles, and specific and understandable results.
In this respect, the President stated that any political actions taken by the State are based on the interests of the Syrian people and that the results of these actions must be in the best interests of the Syrian people.
For his part, Amir-Abdollahian reiterated Iran's commitment to helping the Syrian people, their unity, and their territorial integrity, stressing that his nation has complete faith in their positions and decisions and will support them throughout quartet meetings (Syrian-Turkish-Russian-Iranian meetings).

The Iranian Minister's travel to the earthquake-afflicted zones in Lattakia was regarded by President al-Assad as a continuation of Iran's efforts to assist Syria in recovering from the earthquake and as a sign of the strong relations that exist between the two nations and peoples.

Amir-Abdollahian extended sympathy and condolences to the Syrian people and said that his nation has made every effort to demand the withdrawal of the illegal sanctions against Syria since the early days of the earthquake.
He also expressed appraisal of the reconciliatory initiatives between Syria and the Arab states.

Back in January, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed on Monday the possibility of Iran's participation in the tripartite talks between Russia, Syria, and Turkey.
