Demonstrations under the slogan of "Syrian blood is unified" have been taking place in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Sunday in support of the people of the Syrian coast, who have been under attack from armed factions since Thursday.
The protesters chanted slogans against sectarianism and called for ending the bloodshed, as militants mounted their attacks targeting several villages in Tartus and the Jableh countryside in Latakia, while communications were cut off from Dar'a and Suweida.
Local sources told Al Mayadeen on Sunday that the massacres are spreading toward the countrysides of Hama and some villages in the Homs countryside, while militants committed more than 10 massacres since Saturday in the villages and countrysides of Latakia, Tartus, and Hama, raising the death toll to above a thousand.
Other local sources told Al Mayadeen that the number of victims is in the hundreds, while tens of bodies remain scattered on the streets, and relatives of victims face difficulties reaching their bodies and burying them.

Thousands killed in Syrian Coast
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on March 9 that the death toll from the attacks on the Alawite minority group has reached 1,018: 745 civilians, 148 fighters allegedly affiliated with ousted President Bashar al-Assad, and 12 security personnel.
Meanwhile, Fox News reported that more than 4,000 Alawites are estimated to have been killed in the coastal region, citing an Alawite who maintains regular contact with her community in Syria and requested to remain anonymous.
On March 9, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported attacks on several villages: Ta'neena, al-Hataniyeh, and al-Jawwar in Tartous, as well as al-Ramilah and al-Naqaa in the Jableh countryside of Latakia, with around a thousand civilians killed by armed groups described by al-Sharaa as "undisciplined".
Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported a series of massacres on March 7 in coastal areas perpetrated by armed groups dressed in military and General Security uniforms after they stormed the villages of al-Mukhtariyah, al-Haffa, and al-Qabo.
Interim Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa called earlier today for national unity, as the situation in the Syrian coast worsened amid pro-government armed forces performing widespread executions targeting civilians from the Alawite minority group.
