Putin, Bennett discuss 'concerning' issues for 'Israel'
Israeli media reports that Israeli occupation Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed issues of "concern" for the Israeli occupation.
Israeli occupation Prime Minister Naftali Bennett discussed the Iran nuclear deal with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, the former's office said Saturday.
The Vienna talks were also discussed during the meeting, the office said in a statement, noting that Bennett "expressed Israel's position, which is against returning to the nuclear agreement."
Sputnik reported that the office told the Russian agency that Bennett had a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
An Israeli KAN political commentator said Bennett's meeting with Putin following talks with Zelensky reflects how much "Tel Aviv" wants to play the mediator between Moscow and Kiev.
The commentator also reported that the PM's office informed the White House of the purpose of the visit to Moscow before it happened, adding that "according to an informed source, he received a blessing from the White House over it."
Israeli media reported that Bennett and Putin also touched on the security situation in Syria.
Earlier in the day, Israeli media reported, citing government sources, that "Israel" was planning on joining the list of parties that signed off on sanctions against Russia, provided the crisis in Ukraine continues to escalate.
Israeli i24news noted that policymakers in "Israel" realize they will not be able to preserve their current policies towards Russia's special operation in Donbass if things are not set straight.
Lapid had said on February 28 that "Israel" was carefully studying the importance of sanctions against Russia, and the Israelis have set up a team that would examine the consequences of the sanctions on "Israel" and its economy.
This comes after the Israeli occupation sought to mediate talks between Russia and Ukraine and its attempt was met by rejection from the Russian president.
It is also noteworthy that the Israeli occupation has been benefiting from the Ukraine crisis and using it to serve its expansionist interests.
