Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has reiterated Tehran's commitment to Sudan's stability, territorial integrity, and establishment of a unified government during a meeting with Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Youssef Ahmed Al-Sharif in Tehran.
Al-Sharif, leading a high-level Sudanese delegation, arrived in the Iranian capital on Monday for discussions with senior officials on bilateral ties and regional affairs. The meeting between Qalibaf and Al-Sharif took place at Baharestan, where both sides explored ways to strengthen cooperation.
At the start of the talks, Qalibaf welcomed the Sudanese delegation, noting Sudan's historical significance and long-standing ties with Iran. He stated:
"Sudan is a well-known country with historical ties and bilateral relations with Iran. The Islamic Republic stresses the need for stability in Sudan, the establishment of a unified government, and the preservation of its territorial integrity. We hope that this will be achieved soon."
He cautioned, however, that Sudan's success in stabilizing the country would not deter external forces from interfering in its affairs, adding:
"Sudan's success in this matter will certainly not eliminate the enemies' ambitions. They will pursue new conspiracies to achieve their goals. Therefore, necessary planning is required in this regard. The Islamic Republic of Iran firmly believes that in order to counter these conspiracies, we must first recognize that the enemy of Islamic and regional nations is the Zionist regime."

Qalibaf also addressed economic and trade relations between Iran and Sudan alongside political cooperation. He expressed hope that Al-Sharif's visit could serve as a step toward strengthening economic partnerships.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Qalibaf reaffirmed Iran's readiness to strengthen parliamentary ties with Sudan, particularly through the Iran-Sudan Parliamentary Friendship Group, once stability is restored in the African nation.
Sudanese Foreign Minister Thanks Iran for Its Support
During the discussions, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Youssef Ahmed Al-Sharif conveyed greetings from Sudan's parliamentary speaker and congratulated Iran on the 46th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
Reflecting on the current situation in Sudan, Al-Sharif stated:
"Sudan has been going through a difficult situation for nearly two years, facing an international conspiracy aimed at fragmenting the country and plundering its resources."
He also noted the severe humanitarian crisis, revealing that nearly two million Sudanese have been displaced to neighboring countries, and that tens of thousands of civilians, including women, men, and children, have been killed as a result of the ongoing conflict.
