Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi outlined plans to honor recent successes made by the Iranian aerospace industry specialists.
In his remarks at a cabinet meeting Wednesday, Raisi cited the successful placement of the Iranian satellite Khayyam into orbit and commended the Iranian Space Agency and all local experts for overseeing the process of receiving signals and managing data from it.
The Iranian President emphasized the significance of aeronautical research as an industry that contributes to the advancement of other technologies and declared his administration's commitment to making up for any shortcomings in this sector.
According to Raisi, Iran will soon announce new accomplishments in the aerospace sector that would greatly benefit environmental preservation, mining exploration, the management of natural disasters, and border monitoring.
According to a broadcast by Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, the Soyuz Russian rocket carrying the Khayyam satellite was launched, on August 9, from the Baikonur cosmodrome. According, to Iranian media, the satellite will help improve Iran's "agricultural productivity, monitoring of water resources, management of natural disasters and monitoring of mines."
Khayyam, named after the Persian polymath Omar Khayyam, is equipped with remote sensing technologies, which allow the satellite to provide "accurate spatial data." The satellite was created by Russian enterprises following Iranian orders. It resembles Russian-Iranian cooperation in the field of satellite technologies.
