Raisi further stressed that avoiding interference in the domestic affairs of other nations and the respect for the principle of national sovereignty is something France should abide by.
In regards to the latest developments in talks aiming at the removal of sanctions on Iran, Raisi said that Iran has systematically answered all the IAEA's legal obligations, noting that politically-charged and non-constructive actions in those talks are not a viable course of action.
The conflict in Ukraine was also brought up in the two president's phone conversation, with Raisi reiterating Iran's stance of opposing conflict and considering diplomacy as the better option to address the situation.
The French head of State stressed on his part that France is seeking further engagement with Iran and requested that talks between the two countries remain ongoing to strengthen bilateral relations.
He further considered Iran as a major contributor to peace talks to end the Ukraine conflict and asked that Iran plays a greater role in this regard.
French President Emmanuel Macron urged his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi to "immediately end" alleged Tehran's support for Russia in the context of the Ukraine war, according to the Elysee.
