Russia's representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia said today that "Israel" is continuing its worst "military operation" despite the Security Council resolution calling for an end to the war in Gaza.

During his speech at the Security Council session addressing the situation in Gaza, Nebenzia also said that the Security Council must issue an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing that "Israel" does not distinguish between "a civilian and an armed person," nor between residential buildings, schools, mosques, hospitals, and "military targets."

He also added that the situation in Gaza is deteriorating amid the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) being prevented from proceeding with its work, adding that so far, "Israel" has not provided evidence to back its claim against the organization.

In addition, China's representative to the UN, Zhang Jun, also urged for the immediate implementation of the Security Council's binding ceasefire resolution in Gaza and the opening of all land crossings in Gaza to allow the entry of humanitarian aid.

He stressed that it is necessary to advocate for Palestine's full membership in the United Nations.

Jun also emphasized that "Israel" should respect International Humanitarian Law and stop targeting all civilian objects and aid workers in Gaza.

US attempting to mislead UNSC members

Nebezia further revealed that the United States representative to the UN Security Council tried to manipulate the group by misleading statements about resolutions regarding the Israeli war on Gaza.

“Just a few minutes ago, we bore witness to a cynical attempt — an inexcusable attempt — at manipulation on the part of our US colleagues,” Nebenzia announced during a UN Security Council meeting.

He added that the US representative to the UN said that Russia and China previously vetoed a draft resolution that included a call to protect humanitarian aid workers without mentioning that the resolution which was issued by the council recently also entailed this demand.

Nebenzia stressed that Russia believes that such “low standards” have no place in the UN Security Council adding that the US should direct its energy on halting all weapon exports to "Israel" that are being utilized to kill Palestinians.

UNSC adopted a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza

Following the United States' abstention from the vote, the United Nations Security Council requested an immediate ceasefire between the Israeli occupation forces and the Palestinian Resistance, as well as the immediate and unconditional release of all captives on March 25.

With the US abstaining, the 14 other members voted in favor of the resolution, which was sponsored by the Security Council's 10 elected members.

Algeria's UN Ambassador Amar Bendjama expressed after the vote that the Palestinians have "suffered greatly", citing that the "bloodbath has continued for far too long."
