Russia appreciates Cuba support against US, NATO hybrid war: Medvedev
The Russian security official tells the leader of the Cuban Revolution Raul Castro that ties between the two countries will continue to grow.
Moscow appreciates Cuba's support to Russia against the hybrid war launched by the West and led by the United States and NATO, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev expressed to former Cuban President Raul Castro.
In a phone call, Medvedev conveyed to the leader of the Cuban Revolution the best wishes of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and also congratulated him on his 92nd birthday.

"During the telephone conversation, Dmitry Medvedev said that the dynamics of the Russian-Cuban dialogue reflect a great deal of work to deepen multidimensional ties that will continue to grow in the future," a spokesperson for Medvedev's office said in a press briefing.
"The Russian Security Council deputy chairman added that Moscow appreciates the support of the friendly people of the republic to our state in the confrontation with the collective West, in the conditions of the 'hybrid war' against Russia unleashed by the US and NATO."
He also confirmed to the Cuban leader Russia's unwavering position against the US embargo on the Latin American country.
"Dmitry Medvedev also confirmed that Russia's position on the problem of the US trade, economic and financial embargo against Cuba remains unchanged. Our country is in favor of an immediate end to such a regime of restrictions, which contradicts the norms of international law," the spokesperson said.
US hegemonic policy
In an interview last Thursday with RT, Cuba’s President Miguel Diaz-Canel stated that abandoning the use of the US dollar will free the world from American hegemony.
Giving the dollar leverage around the world, according to the president, allows the US to pursue an “aggressive hegemonistic policy of building walls, imposing punitive sanctions, blackmail, aggression and slander".
He added that the BRICS block of emerging economies “provides a brilliant alternative for economic integration, especially for developing economies.”
Military cooperation
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced in April that the military cooperation between Russia and Cuba is developing successfully.
“It is at times like this that we get friends from other countries supporting us with real actions and under conditions that are not harmful to our independence,” Diaz-Canel said.
Moreover, Lavrov revealed that Moscow and Havana have been negotiating a loan for an additional supply of wheat. The conditions for the restructuring of Cuba's debt have been agreed upon, he added.
