Russia captures LPR village, eliminates 100s of Ukrainian troops: MoD
Russia continues advancing and capturing significant territory amid ongoing clashes with the Ukrainian Arme Forces.
Russia's Zapad (West) forces have captured the village of Nadiya in the Luhansk People's Republic and neutralized up to 590 Ukrainian military personnel in the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Saturday.
The Ministry stated, "As a result of successful offensive actions, units of the Zapad group of forces liberated the settlement of Nadiya in the Lugansk People's Republic."
Additionally, Kiev has reportedly lost over 440 soldiers in clashes with Russia's Tsentr (Center) forces, more than 250 soldiers and an ammunition depot in engagements with the Yug (South) forces, and up to 170 soldiers in battles with the Vostok (East) forces. The Dnepr group of forces inflicted losses of up to 70 soldiers, while the Sever (North) group reportedly eliminated 50 soldiers and destroyed a tank within the last day.
The ministry also noted that Russian air defense systems intercepted eight US-made ATACMS missiles fired by Kiev. Furthermore, the Russian military targeted military airfield infrastructure, a drone assembly facility, storage areas for attack drones, and concentrations of Ukrainian troops over the past day.
Kiev troop losses estimated at 593,410 in 2024: Reports
Ukrainian forces have suffered approximately 593,410 casualties in 2024, as reported by RIA Novosti citing calculations based on data from the Russian Defense Ministry on Wednesday.
The ministry's weekly reports show that during the early months of 2024, Ukraine was losing around 4,000 soldiers per week. This number increased to 7,000 by March, before slightly declining.
In March, Ukrainian forces also attempted incursions across the Russian border in Belgorod and Kursk, resulting in an additional loss of around 3,000 troops, as per the report.
Following these incidents, Ukrainian casualties continued to rise, reaching more than 10,000 per week by late May, and remained at this level or higher thereafter. After an attack on Russia’s Kursk region in August, Ukrainian losses surged further.
The heaviest weekly toll occurred between October 26 and November 1, with around 17,000 Ukrainian soldiers reported killed.
