Russia security forces thwart terrorist attack by Ukrainian radicals
The Russian Federal Security Service says it thwarted a terrorist attack led by Ukrainian radicals to blow up an IED in a bus station in the Russian city of Lipetsk.
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) revealed on Friday that it had thwarted a terrorist attack in the Russian city of Lipetsk that was planned by the militants of Ukraine's Right Sector radical party.
In a statement, the FSB indicated that "In the village of Goritsy, Dobrovsky District, Lipetsk Region, three Ukrainian citizens who had earlier arrived in Russia were arrested... [they] belonged to a saboteur reconnaissance group created by the Right Sector under the auspices of the Ukrainian Security Service."
According to the FSB, the investigation revealed that the suspects had arrived in Russia with the purpose of detonating a powerful improvised explosive device in a crowded place "at one of the transport infrastructure facilities in Lipetsk."
One of the suspects claimed that the militants were planning to blast a bus station in the city.
"In the city of Lipetsk at the Sokol bus station I was supposed to commit terrorist acts at the direction of the Right Sector leadership using improvised explosive devices," the detainee admitted.

The FSB mentioned that components of an improvised explosive device have been found in the militants’ cache alongside their correspondence with other Right Sector members, "exposing their intentions."
Furthermore, the FSB also highlighted that the suspects who plotted the terrorist attack had been trained at a Ukrainian army training center under the guidance of foreign instructors.
An FSB official said that "The detainees underwent special training at the Desna training center of the Ukrainian armed forces under the supervision of foreign instructors to carry out reconnaissance and sabotage operations in the enemy's rear."
The criminal proceedings against the suspects have been initiated on charges of plotting a terrorist act, participating in an extremist organization, and illegal possession of explosives.
FSB foils NATO-supervised Ukrainian operation to hijack Russian planes
It is noteworthy that the FSB announced Monday that it had foiled a Ukrainian military intelligence operation to hijack Russian Aerospace Forces combat aircraft, which was supervised by NATO special services.
In a statement, the FSB said: "The Russian Federal Security Service uncovered and stopped the operation of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense to hijack combat aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces, supervised by NATO special services".
Ukrainian military intelligence officers, affiliated with the country's political leadership, attempted to recruit Russian military pilots in exchange for a monetary reward and guarantees of obtaining citizenship in one of the EU countries, according to the statement.
Ukrainian officers have also attempted to persuade Russian military pilots to land aircraft at airfields controlled by Ukraine's armed forces, it added.
The statement concluded by saying that the Ukrainian special services personnel involved in this operation, as well as their accomplices, have been identified.
