Russian media reported that the education ministry was developing a school module on basic military training.
"It will be in schools starting next academic year. Now it is being prepared, we will prepare it before January 1, then it will be tested and schools will be able to use it starting next year," Kravtsov told journalists.
Students will learn about military exercises, personal protective equipment and first aid, weapons and how to use them, the fundamentals of shooting, and the usage and deployment of hand grenades.
Furthermore, high school students will learn how to operate in current combined-arms warfare, as well as the composition and armament of a motorized rifle squad on an infantry fighting vehicle, a soldier's engineering equipment, and trench-digging tactics.
It is worth noting that several Russian MPs proposed returning basic military training to the school education system during the fall session.
The Russian Defense Ministry endorsed the concept and determined that at least 140 hours should be allotted to the new module during the final two years of study.
