Russia warns 'Israel' against striking Iran's nuclear infrastructure
Amid escalating regional tensions, Russia has sent warnings to "Israel" against even "hypothetically considering the possibility of a strike on (Iranian) nuclear facilities and nuclear infrastructure."
On Thursday, Moscow warned "Israel" against striking Iran's nuclear infrastructure, adding that "Moscow is in constant contact with Iran, regardless of the level of tensions in the region."
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated, "We have repeatedly warned and continue to warn, to caution (Israel) against even hypothetically considering the possibility of a strike on (Iranian) nuclear facilities and nuclear infrastructure,", adding that this "would be a catastrophic development and a complete negation of all existing principles in the area of ensuring nuclear safety."
He also confirmed that Moscow is exchanging assessments of the situation in the Middle East with Tehran, explaining, "We are in constant contact with the Iranian side, as it does not depend on fluctuations in the political scale and the degree of tension in the region, which has now become very high and causes great concern."
Regarding Moscow's position on Washington in this regard, Ryabkov said that all prospects for dialogue on strategic stability with the United States will not be possible until "Washington abandons its anti-Russian policy".
Russia has concerns of Israeli strike on Iran
On October 1, Ryabkov stated that Russia has expressed concern over "Israel's" signals suggesting a potential "retaliatory strike" on Iran, which could involve targeting Iranian nuclear facilities.
He expressed deep concern, highlighting that any escalation of the current war could lead to severe consequences, stressing that "I also want to say that nuclear facilities as such, in any case, should always be take out of any conflict."
He also emphasized the need for the international community, including the IAEA and its leadership, to speak out and condemn the mere consideration of such scenarios.
His statement came after Iran's retaliatory attack against "Israel", in which it launched dozens of missiles toward military targets in the occupied territory.
The IRGC stated following the attack, "We have targeted the heart of the occupied territories in response to the assassination of martyrs Haniyeh [in Tehran], Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and Nilforooshan." The statement further said, warning "Israel", "If the Zionist regime retaliates to the Iranian operation, it will face violent consequences."
