US intervention during the 1950-53 war is remembered for the large-scale destruction it caused across Korea through a brutal bombing campaign. The US has made use of various weapons to kill civilians, including biological weapons such as germ warfare and livestock contamination.
US forces are also remembered for carrying out mass killings and massacres against troops and civilians, as well as the killing of refugees. They have also resorted to torture to interrogate prisoners, subjecting them to the worst sorts of physical and mental treatments.
The country continues to endure the plight of US provocations amid heightened escalations on the demilitarized zone and the Korean peninsula.
On July 14, Member of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and Kim Jong Un's sister, Kim Yo Jong, warned that unless the US ceases to carry out its "hostile policy" against the DPRK, Pyongyang will unleash "overwhelming nuclear deterrence."
