Saeid: Lobbies Are Starving the Tunisian People
Tunisian President Kais Saied has called on officials from the Ministry of Trade and Export Development to be more tough with all those who wish to harm the Tunisian people, and he has stated that monopolistic policies must be ended.
Today, Tuesday, Tunisian President Kais Saied thanked all officials of the Ministry of Trade and Export Development for their efforts to monitor distribution channels, warehouses, and urged them to govern with an iron fist all who wish to abuse the Tunisian people and apply the law equally to all.
During a meeting with Minister of Trade and Export Development Mohamed Boussaid at the Carthage Palace, Saied stated that "certain lobbyists are still starving the Tunisian people and injuring their dignity."
Saied emphasized the need to end monopolistic policies and attempts to control the prices of products and commodities.
This morning, the Tunisian President signed a presidential order prolonging the suspension of parliament's activity and suspending lawmakers' immunity until further notice, which coincided with a security deployment near Parliament in the capital.
The International Monetary Fund's Executive Board issued a statement on the economic situation in Tunisia on February 26, 2021, in which it urged the government to expedite the implementation of the structural reforms program and to begin cutting expenditures by freezing wages and ceasing public sector employment, as well as calling for the lifting of subsidies.
