Saudi coalition seizes yet another fuel tanker: Sanaa
In another violation of the renewed truce, the Saudi-led coalition seizes a fuel tanker and prevents it from reaching Al-Hudaydah port.
The Yemeni Petroleum Company confirmed that the Saudi-led coalition has seized a fuel tanker, the "Lady Sara”, preventing it from reaching Al-Hudaydah port.
The company said in a statement that the US-led Saudi coalition detained "Lady Sara", which is loaded with 8230 tons of fuel, preventing the ship from reaching the port despite being inspecting and possessing the necessary permits from the United Nations.
The seizure of “Lady Sara" marks the 14th time that the Saudi-led coalition has seized tankers bound for Yemen during the last extension of the UN-brokered ceasefire, according to the Yemen Petroleum Company (YPC). Currently, the coalition continues to detain three tankers.
The Saudi-led coalition continues to engage in piracy against oil ships, ignoring all efforts aimed at relieving the Yemeni people from their suffering, caused by the siege the kingdom has imposed on the country.
The Minister of Oil and Minerals in the Sanaa government, Ahmed Abdullah Daris, has recently accused the US-backed Saudi-led coalition of deliberately seizing ships and profiteering from the suffering of the Yemeni people.
The Saudi-led coalition launched an aggression against Yemen in 2015. The number of civilian casualties as a result of the direct bombing of the Saudi-led coalition during the 7 years of the aggression on Yemen has exceeded 46,000, including more than 17,000 dead, among whom are more than 4,000 children, as per the Eye of Humanity Center for Rights and Development in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.
The Saudi-led aggression on Yemen has also created one of the world's worst man-made humanitarian crises, with nearly 80% of the country's population in need of humanitarian assistance and protection, as per the UN.
