Saudi FM: Integrating "Israel" in the region will be of great benefit
Is Saudi Arabia paying lip service to "Israel" with this statement to pave the way for a normalization agreement?
Israeli media quoted a high-ranking Saudi official as saying that "integrating Israel into the region will bring great benefits, not only to Israel, but to the entire region."
The Israeli newspaper Maariv quoted Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan as saying that Saudi Arabia's step is waiting for a settlement between "Israel" and the Palestinians, or at least for the two sides to "discuss a settlement plan" that can be implemented.
According to Maariv, Bin Farhan said that incorporating "Israel" into the region will bring great benefits, but claims that without addressing the core issues of the Palestinian people and granting "respect and sovereignty" to the Palestinian people through the establishment of a Palestinian state, the security of "Israel", as well as the entire region, will still be exposed to instability and dangers.
The newspaper also quoted Jordanian Foreign Minister Faisal Safadi as saying that his country has chosen to "establish diplomatic relations with Israel," emphasizing that the Palestinian issue is behind the unrest in the region.
According to the newspaper, Safadi added that the Kingdom is engaged with a "difficult job with Egypt and European countries," and that it has direct contact with "Israel" to allegedly find a political horizon, which would end the occupation and establish a Palestinian state alongside "Israel".
Earlier, Israeli media commented on an investigation published by the New York Times regarding emergency talks between Bin Salman and Netanyahu regarding Pegasus and said that "Israel" took advantage of the program to advance its foreign relations.
