SDF murders school student in Deir Ezzor, Syria
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) open fire on school children, killing one and wounding two others.
The Syrian Democratic Forces opened fire against school students in Deir Ezzor, one of which was shot in the neck while they were trying to cross from a Syrian National Army-controlled area into their village, which is controlled by the US-backed militia.
The fiasco claimed the life of one child and wounded two others.
"The children were boarding a fishing boat to cross the Euphrates river and get to its bank in the village of Shnan. They were shot from the SDF checkpoints erected in the village," Al Mayadeen's sources reported.
"The students' families attacked the SDF checkpoints in the area as retaliation for [the militia] opening fire against children, and the situation in the area is highly tense."
In a bid to quell the protests and contain them within the village, the SDF militia brought in military enforcements that included militiamen and around 20 vehicles, including ones armed with machine guns.
Hundreds of students cross the Euphrates river daily to take their official exams in Deir Ezzor, risking their lives amid a tense situation and the widespread presence of armed groups on the eastern banks of the river.
Just last week, local media reported that three Syrian nationals had been killed and 21 others had been injured as a result of the SDF targeting a civilian bus in southern Deir Ezzor, eastern Syria.
